Te Kaupapa o Puni Reo
The Puni Reo mobile Māori language movement aims to normalise and activate te reo in our social activities. Drawn from the Māori concept of Puni and our tradition of setting up temporary camps for the sustainability of whanau and replenishing of resources, Puni Reo is a modern day version intent on nourishing through the creation of maori language spaces. Puni Reo mobilise both Māori and non-Māori to activate te reo and tikanga Māori in safe and supportive spaces within a wide range of our contemporary social contexts, often considered non-Māori language domains.
Puni Reo is a platform designed to allow users to learn the pronunciation and use of common Māori words and phrases throughout a range of social contexts. Currently Puni Reo is set to support sports within te ao Māori (the world of Māori) and includes, netball, Ki-O-Rahi, and Squash.
In Puni Reo you can learn key positions, court or field names, equipment, and other useful phrases in easy to digest flash cards. Puni Reo allows users to learn the pronunciation of all our words, as well as learn to spell and quickly identify Kupu for use on and off the field. There is also a quiz to test your self and measure your accuracy and memory.
